Senior Managing Consultant

You will lead clients and teams through complex projects, owning the day-to-day client relationship and the project outcomes, demonstrating your team leadership, project management and client relationship development capabilities.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Relevant first degree or equivalent qualification, ideally in a science discipline (favouring engineering and economic disciplines). 

  • Relevant postgraduate qualification. 

  • Minimum of 5 years' work experience, ideally in a consultancy role (or a functional role with high responsibility in project delivery and stakeholder management), ideally with a specialist technical focus in circular economy, value retention and/or carbon accounting. 

  • Demonstrated experience of delivering projects and providing/implementing recommendations and solutions in a commercial setting. 


Your main responsibilities will sit across three key pillars

Delivering Client Work

  • Lead the delivery of high-profile complex engagements, managing multiple projects or a larger programme of work, with responsibility for the full project lifecycle from inception to delivery, including project team and budget. Manage teams of consultants, client teams, and/or third parties to deliver promised outcomes to clients.  

  • Scope and execute projects to deliver value for both the client in terms of outcomes and Oakdene Hollins in terms of commercial value. Expertly manage scope to ensure client outcomes are achieved through effective use of resources to achieve target commercials. 

  • Provide leadership, development, and inspiration to consultants on client assignments, modelling best practice and ensuring consistency and quality of approach.  

  • Anticipate client challenges and proactively address them. Confidently and diplomatically manage client scenarios and mitigate risks. 

  • Ideate and lead the analytical approach required to deliver projects and clearly convey expectations to the project team. Recommend new approaches to keep Oakdene Hollins at the forefront of analytical, modelling, and visualisation methods within the context of commercial goals. 

Driving Business Development

  • Maintain excellent relationships with client's senior leadership and advocates during and after completion of projects, proactively influencing opportunities for longer term collaborations that leverage broader Oakdene Hollins offerings. 

  • Drive the acquisition of new clients by engaging with prospects to generate opportunities, understand needs, scope requirements, deliver compelling proposals and negotiate terms. 

  • Support the ongoing development of the Oakdene Hollins brand, taking a lead on the production of thought leadership content in support of the marketing effort.  

Enabling Company Development

  • Act as role model and coach to consultants to ensure the highest levels of professional competence and successful performance.  

  • Provide unrivalled advice, guidance, and opinion as a thought leader both internally and externally within the sustainability subject matter field. 

  • Contribute to the strategy and vision of the business and take responsibility for initiating and leading major projects to drive internal improvement and role model a continuous improvement mindset
