Ellen Percival and Fiona Dawkins

Over the past year, and in spite of all the challenges faced with the pandemic, we have witnessed sustainability and the circular economy jump to the top of the agenda for many private and public organisations. Whereas before it was the trail blazers driving the sustainability agenda, now all companies are being forced to engage with circular principles and sustainability reporting to gain and retain clients.

As a result, we are pleased to introduce our two newest members of the team: Ellen Percival and Fiona Dawkins.

Ellen Percival studied for a Chemistry Masters at the University of Warwick. Her Master’s project focused on exploring the conversion of waste from the paper industry into high value, renewable products. Ellen has joined in the position of Research Consultant.

Fiona Dawkins has been studying accountancy for three years and has nearly completed her AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting. Over the years Fiona has gained vast experience supporting business consultancies with a focus on retail and digital transformation. Fiona has joined our rapidly growly team as our new Finance Assistance and Administrator.

Let us get to know our newest members of the team:

What attracted you to Oakdene Hollins?

Ellen: After graduating from university, it become clear that pursuing a career which involved science and sustainability was the right path for me. As a science-led consultancy, Oakdene Hollins fitted that criterion perfectly!

Fiona: I was eager to put the skills I have gained through my Diploma into practice. Working for a company which embeds sustainable practices across industry and society was equally as important for me.

What interests you most across the field of sustainability?

Ellen: I have always taken an interest in sustainability. This passion grew over the course of my degree as I carried out modules and projects focused on renewable energy. More recently I have been interested in exploring the smaller, everyday steps society can adopt to reverse negative consumer habits.

Fiona: I am personally drawn to a reversal in the trend of fast fashion and overconsumption. Also, I would like to contribute towards encouraging product longevity, through the development of superior quality products with inbuilt repair, remanufacture and reuse possibilities.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not at work?

Ellen: I cannot wait to get back to playing hockey when I find a local team here, but until then, lockdown has taught me to appreciate a good walk.

Fiona: When not working I enjoy spending time with family and reading and am looking forward to a future of sustainable travel.
